SEND LSA /TA September start. Full time position available for 1 year, with a view to going permanent S45

Job Type: Full-time

Learning support/ SEND teaching assistant in the Chesterfield (S45) area to start in September. The job is 5 days per week, 9:00-15:00. Initially, the duration will be for the entire 2026/2027 academic year, with a view to then transitioning to a permanent contract from 2027/2028.

Qualifications we will consider:

Teaching assistant related (level 2+)
Childcare related (level 2+).
Non qualified teaching assistants with experience of working in schools or nurseries.

The successful candidates will be working in the school's enhanced resource room, that provides an education for children with a variety of learning difficulties, many of which are on the autism spectrum. Some of the children are integrated into mainstream classes during parts of the day, while others stay in the resource room. The children are aged across the primary range. The successful candidates should have good grasp of SEND in general. Knowledge and/or experience of working with autism would also be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

· To provide support to students with a range of SEND.

· To assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.

· To adapt learning materials to meet individual student needs, ensuring they are fully engaged wherever possible.

· To help students develop confidence and independence both inside and outside the classroom.

· To support with classroom management and help maintain a positive and safe environment for all students.

We are looking for people who can support children with complex and challenging behaviours, with:

· a passion for working with children with special educational needs.

· patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with students.

· experience in a school setting (preferred).

· an enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

· flexibility and a positive attitude to adapt to different learning needs.

In order to apply for this job you must:

  • be a qualified teaching assistant to level 2 or above, or have experience working in schools, nurseries or SEN children in an educational setting
  • based in the UK
  • eligible to work in the UK
  •  Have experience working in a school or nursery environment
  • Have a basic understanding of Phonics and how it is taught
  • Hold a current, valid, enhanced DBS certificate( or be prepared to get one)
  • Be qualified to minimum level 2 as a Teaching Assistant
  • Be able to start at just before 9:00 in the morning
  • Have your own transport
